Mr Kirk Baxley is from the big city of Belton, TX! (Let me tell you how small this world is! Kirk’s sister is married to my cousin!)
His hobbies reading, bow fishing, Hitting golf balls,”…maybe I should say slicing golf balls.” That’s a good one!
When and why did you start playing?
“I started singing very early on. As a music ministers son music was always around me. I picked up the guitar at 11yrs of age. I’m self taught. Music is a calling to me and was always my therapy.”
Which instruments do you play?
Piano, bass, guitar, drums, guitar
What was the first songs you learned?
“Blue suede shoes, Louie, Louie, and Get Back.”
Is your family musical?
“Very much so both sides. I remember Christmases growing up being more of a jam session/sing Along time. We called it making music.” He replied
Which famous musicians do you admire? Why?
“Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Prince. Cash and Presley both had deep rooted faith and weren’t afraid to sing of it. Prince is just amazingly talented and such a dynamic presence. Elvis is my fave ever. Cash is the stuff though:) “
What are your fondest musical memories?
“Elvis Impersonations as young child, my family would play all the instrumentation…that’s how all this started.” He replied
Were you influenced by old records & tapes?
“Yes I was Elvis Presley’s Gospel hits.”
Who are your favorite musicians?
“Merle Haggard, George Jones, Jackson Brown, Ryan Adams, the Eagles, Radney Foster, Anthony Hamilton, Brooks and Dunn, and George Strait.” These are some of my favorites also!
What is a typical week like for you?
“Monday is usually a day off, I spend with my daughter as much as I can on Mon and Tues. wed- sun are typically shows/writing sessions/studio sessions/rehearsal/interviews/ coffee breaks.”
What’s your favorite thing about being on the road?
“Sight seeing, meeting random people is always a lot fun. Trying to inspire a room with my songs.”
What’s the funniest thing that’s happened to you on the road?
“Haha a lot of fun out there…I am blessed to travel with a group of wonderful people. Too many great times to single just one out.”
Best place to eat while on the road?
“Lillie’s, New York City!”
What’s the best town play in
“I love em all!!!! That’s tough!”
